United Talent Staffing is seeking a dynamic Senior Accountant with strong analytical abilities to join the Hope Gas team in hybrid/Morgantown, WV.
This position is responsible for providing leadership & support within the accounting organization. Duties include closing activities, providing monthly variance analysis and reporting, as well as annual report preparation. This role ensures the integrity of accounting information in accordance with company practices, FERC, PSC and GAAP regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and analyze accounting records, financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformity to reporting and procedural standards
- Prepare account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Conduct complex assignments and analysis involving accounting projects and the day to day maintenance of a general ledger
- Identify inconsistencies and problems and works to resolve them.
- Perform appropriate accounting controls
- Participate in month-end closing, quarterly and year-end financial reporting activities
- Routinely interact with internal and external customers
- Advise project teams on specific accounting and internal control issues relevant to new products; major business and organizational events; system conversions, upgrades and enhancements
- Provide functional advice or training to less experienced accountants
Main Qualifications
- 4-7 years of general accounting experience or 3+ years of public accounting experience
- Broad knowledge of U.S. General Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices and procedures
- Excellent computer skills including Excel
- Effective communication, interpersonal and customer service skills –
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- High degree of personal initiative and self-motivation
- SAP and BW experience- preferred
- Utility accounting experience – preferred
- Knowledge of derivative & hedge accounting – preferred
- Understanding of inventory process – preferred
